Chastity first learned about PAWS Humane Society while she was doing an animal adoption story for KIMT TV. She had mentioned to our shelter director that if PAWS ever got a dachshund in need of a home, she would like to be contacted. Chastity's sister once found a miniature dachshund on the side of the road and her love for these dogs started then.

| Not long after Chastity left that message, Fritz came to PAWS in need of a good home. He was about 5 pounds of pure joy and endless energy. Our shelter director wasted no time in giving Chastity a call. Chastity remembers, "Within the first ten seconds of meeting Fritz, I knew that I had a new best friend. He ran up to me and just covered me in puppy kisses."

Fritz was going to a new home and Chastity, who loves to shop, wasted no time in buying the boy a new bed, a big bag of food, new toys, and treats. But even with all his new stuff, Fritz still prefers cuddling and giving kisses to his new mom.

| Chastity wasn't sure what she was going to name her new friend. She thought perhaps a new life deserved a new name. After help from a very special 3 year old, Fritz officially became Walter Fritz Hippopotumus, but he's just called Fritz as it seemed to suit him best. His new official name was almost as long as Fritz himself!

| Fritz says one of the best things he's done is walking with Chastity in the Band Fest Parade in Mason City. "I was a crowd favorite (of course) and made many friends along the parade route. Boy, my little legs got sooooo tired though so mom had to carry me to the finish!"

| 'I'm definately getting settled in my new home. I like to bark at strangers (especially the mailman), chase birds, nap in the sun, work in the flower bed, attack ants, and basically just hang out with my mom. I'm an ant killer though! Well, actually I was sniffing this ant and it got stuck up my nose. Good grief! I tried dragging my nose across the carpet and nothing worked. Thankfully I sneezed and the ant came out......so I ate it!'

Chastity says that she is so happy that she adopted such a good dog from PAWS Humane Society. "I could tell Fritz came from a good family. He never gets mad or barks out of anger. He's never even nipped."

| 'I'm trying to talk mom into letting me drive. Too short to reach the pedals tho! We went to visit my grandma and grandpa and I got to play with some little puppies and torment their cat. My work is never done!'
