There are times when a pet becomes more than just an addition to a family. Sometimes pets are able to help a family thru a difficult time. Scott and Kristie felt a void in their lives after enduring a miscarrage in Feb, 2004. Sophie was able to help this family heal and she, no doubt, would be forever grateful for their love.

| Kristie and Scott were searching the internet and came across PAWS Humane Society website. They really weren't looking for another house cat and had never adopted a cat before, but then they spotted Sophie (who was known at PAWS as Lassie). Out of all the wonderful cats and kittens available for adoption, Sophie caught their eye. Sophie had come into the shelter as a stray. She was homeless, hungry, and afraid. She waited for a special family to come along and give her a home that she had never had before.

| Scott says cats belong outside! "My dad must be speaking of some other cats in the world. Certainly not me!" Sophie has become Scott's shadow when we returns home from trucking all week. "I have my dad wrapped around my little paw! I know when my dad gets home and I'm willing to just sit with him until he wants to play a game with me. My dad loves that chase the string game as much as I do."

Sophie loves people food unlike the other cats in her family. "My morning starts with eggs for breakfast. I listen for my mom to crack the eggs before I head to the kitchen. Dad even lets me sit on his lap to eat sometimes."

'Me and Snickers. I have lots of playmates in my family. They all had to get used to me when I first came to my new home and we did some hissing and growling at each other, but we've learned we all live here together now and it's ok.'

| Sophie is so photogenic. Kristie says that no matter what Sophie does, she makes her smile because she is so cute and lovable. She is super spoiled, but spoiled with love.

Sophie's family: Kristie, Scott, Justin, Saber, Smokee, Snickers, Shania, Skyler, and Sophie. Kristie and Scott say that they couldn't imagine life without their pets. Sophie has made their family complete according to Kristie.
